The Chip Twirl Poker Chip Trick

Amateur players of poker may have seen the professional poker players do the twirl trick during the World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker episodes. The twirl is a hard poker chip trick to learn but in spite of its difficulty, it is absolutely fun to do once you got your hand to it. The trick is also called as "chip twirl" or "chip spin".

You will need three chips for the twirl trick but there are also other variations of the trick that use more than three chips.

Hold the three chips between your index and ring fingers in a perpendicular manner to your fingers. The middle finger should be supporting the back of the chips. Your grip is similar to that of the thumb flip. The chips should be situated about half an inch away from the fingertips and not any closer.

Slightly loosen up the two outer chips using your thumb. The chip in the middle should be held firmly with your index and ring fingers. When the two outer chips are already loosed, pull them up with the thumb and index finger holding the two chips firmly.

While the ring finger is pulling away and the middle chip is rolling along with the index finger, allow the pinky finger to grab the middle chip's bottom that it may not fall. Once you have a good hold of the chip, remove your ring finger away from the chip.

Position your middle and ring fingers on the edge of the chip that is held by the index and pinky fingers. Once those fingers are in position at the chip's edge, bend them going towards the palm. Use your middle finger to spin the chip to a 180 degrees turn. The index finger and the ring finger will be used as the axis points.

Once the chip has finished its spin and is already perpendicular to the fingers, carefully pull out your middle and ring fingers from holding the chip. Using your pinky finger, roll the chip back to its original position in the middle of the two outer chips. Simultaneously, bring the two other chips down using your thumb that the single chip will be inserted back between the two chips.

These are some of the hardest parts of the twirl trick. One hard part is when you are going to separate the middle chip from the outer chips. Another hard part is keeping the single chip in place while trying to make the spin.

There are times that you will get frustrated but to know the trick, you need to be patient while practicing and just keep on practicing until you have the trick perfected.
