Making the Switch - The Back to Front Poker Chip Trick

The back to front trick is also called by other people as the switch. This trick's main goal is to exchange places of one or more poker chips. You can do a front to back switch or a back to front switch, depending on how one person looks at the trick. The back to front trick may somewhat similar to some of the poker chip tricks but the move is somehow different.

To learn this trick, you are going to need two or more poker chips. Stack the chips in a perpendicular way and place the chips between the ring and index fingers. The middle finger will serve as the back support of the chips that they will not fall. Put some pressure to the chips using your ring and index fingers that no chips will fall.

Using your thumb, get the chip nearest to the palm and roll it out going to the ring finger towards the pinky finger. Once there, only the pinky and the thumb should hold the chip.

Simultaneously, the thumb and pinky finger should pull the chip towards the bottom and the other three fingers should push out the rest of the remaining chips. Doing this will create a distinct separation of two chip holdings. Once there is that gap between the two sets, move the three fingers holding the rest of the chips towards the palm.

At this part of the back to front trick, the thumb and the pinky finger are not actually moving. These two just remain stationary. Only the other three fingers move.

When the three fingers - index, middle, and ring fingers - are now in place making the chips located near the palm, the chip that is held by the thumb and pinky finger must be brought and place to the opposite end of the stack from where the chip came from.

Combine the two sets of chip holdings together. When the chip that is held by the thumb and pinky finger is already in contact with the ring finger, it is time to let go of the chip. The trick ends with the chip back to its original position in the stack by simply rolling the chip into place using your thumb.

A variation of this trick is that instead of just moving one specific chip, you can do more by moving the other chips also. The back to front trick goes well with the thumb flip. These two poker chip tricks do make an excellent combination.

Practice the trick until it becomes a second nature to you and add the trick to your collection.
