The Johnny Chan Poker Chip Trick
The Johnny Chan trick has become popular because of the movie entitled "Rounders". Johnny Chan, played by his own self, was seen in the movie doing this poker chip trick a number of times.
To do the Johnny Chan trick, you will need six or more poker chips. The number of chips used will depend on how big is your hand and how long are your fingers. If you have a smaller hand and fingers, six chips will be enough to use.
Prepare doing the trick by placing the six poker chips in between the ring and pinky fingers. Unlike other tricks where chips are placed in a perpendicular way, in this trick, the chips are place at an angle and they are leaning towards the direction of the palm.
The chip that is close to the palm is actually half-pressed up against the flesh of your hand. You will know you are holding the chips correctly if the poker chips are situated on the top of the pinky finger with an angle of 45 degrees. The ring finger is place behind the chips to keep the chips firm in place.
With your thumb, reach down to the end of the stack that is near to the fingertips. Let three of the chips loosen up. Once the three chips are loosening up, roll them towards the ring finger. Only the thumb and the ring finger should be holding the three chips at this time.
Once they are on the ring finger, roll them up again towards the middle finger. At this point, the index finger must be lying on the top of the middle finger. After the chips are rolled from the ring finger, the middle finger and the thumb are the ones holding them now. Continue rolling the chips until they will reach the index finger. And when the index finger has gotten a hand on the chips, release the middle finger from holding the chips.
Now, only your thumb and index finger are in control with the three chips. Raise these chips to the point that they are literally above the chips that are left lying in between the pinky and ring fingers. When the three chips are high enough, slowly loosen the chip near your fingertips and let it fall into place. Repeat the same procedure with the other two chips.
Each time you drop a chip, the chip should cycle down along your middle and ring fingers until it will come to a stop on the pinky finger. When you are done with the three chips, you can do the trick all over again.
This poker chip trick that was popularized by Johnny Chan is easy to be learned and it looks cool when you do it smoothly.
